Lessons

I've been an active teacher on drumset for over 35 years and give lessons at my home/studio in Bergenfield, NJ which is located about 10 minutes from the George Washington Bridge (click here to have a look). The studio is well equipped with a comfortable, friendly waiting room. I teach any age, any level, and all styles which include rock, hard-rock, folk-rock, pop, metal, country, jazz, swing, latin, etc, etc. For beginners, I use my self-published book "The Drum Teacher" which gets a student up and playing right away WITHOUT learning to read music. Beyond that I employ much printed and recorded material to move aspiring or experienced drummers in the proper direction. Please check out my YouTube instructional drumming videos by clicking here.

I also teach guitar with my forte being folk-oriented finger-picking styles, a la Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, James Taylor, and of course, Harry Chapin. Lessons for beginners focus on the learning of basic chords. Printed and recorded materials eventually take the student into the varied elements of intermediate and advanced finger-picking techniques. At the appropriate time, the basics of music theory are brought into play as well.

I also teach piano and, on that instrument, I focus on beginner and intermediate students. I strive to teach the basics of piano musicianship with the focus being left-hand chords and right-hand melody. In that way, within a few months a student can play dozens of popular and classical tunes. Along the way, the basic elements of music theory are brought into play as well.

Lessons are $30 per half hour. Please feel free to contact me with any questions:
